Michael England
I am an artist and educator from Cleveland, Ohio. I have received my BFA in Sculpture and my BA in Art Education from Kent State University and my MA in Art Education at the University of Cincinnati's DAAP program. I am happy to call Cincinnati home and love to explore all that the city has to offer in the Arts, culture, food and the outdoors. As an artist, I love to work with a wide variety of materials. I work with duct tape to create 2-dimensional works and large scale sculpture, with acrylic and watercolor paints, fabric, wood, cardboard and just about anything I can get my hands on. Taking an idea and bringing it to life is the reason I enjoy making art and teaching it in the classroom . |
Duct Tape
Over the last decade, I have been working in partnership with the Art Academy of Cincinnati, the University of Cincinnati and the ShurTech Corporation to create outdoor sculptures for promoting the creative potential of working with Duck Tape. Working extensively with the material, it has become a reoccurring feature in my work. The vibrant color, glossy surface and store-bought qualities embedded in the material (to name a few) make duct tape a suitable material for achieving a slick, Post-Pop aesthetic.
